Are you looking for a challenging position where you will be responsible for the implementation of clinical assays for emerging viruses? Are you result orientated and eager to learn? Than we might have a vacancy for you! Currently we are looking for a:

 

Manager Clinical Virology Services (fulltime)

 

In this position, you will be responsible for the implementation of high-throughput assays to assess the efficacy of antiviral drugs and other intervention strategies towards emerging viruses in rapidly expanding new business services. You and your team will be a part of our Clinical Services department, which is responsible for the analysis of global clinical studies on vaccines and antiviral drugs. As a manager, you will work closely with the department head (the Director Clinical Virology Services), with your team and with other team leaders and departments on a daily basis to manage and evaluate ongoing projects. You will be working at the Rotterdam Science Tower, Rotterdam, where our head office is based.

The following tasks will be a part of your responsibilities:

  • Manage the implementation of new assays in our routine clinical analysis and make them fit-for-purpose and robust;
  • Develop plans to set-up new assays, manage the transition of assays from other departments or from customers;
  • Report – according to industry standards – on validation parameters and ensure compliancy with GCLP;
  • Participate in client meetings and acquisition processes, sometimes in an expert role;
  • Head, develop and stimulate your team;
  • Delivering milestones agreed with the senior management or described in contracts.

 

Personal competences

 

We are looking for a colleague who has good communication skills and can communicate properly with colleagues and third parties to ensure swift project progress. You need to be able to stimulate and motivate other people. Furthermore, it is important you are quality focused and pay attention to detail. As you will work on different projects at the same time, you need to be able to switch easily between the projects and have a big sense of responsibility for the projects.

 

Required education and experience

 

  • PhD in Microbiology, virology and/or immunology is a must;
  • 5-10 years of working experience with (respiratory) viruses;
  • Excellent English language skills, both verbally and written;
  • Good appreciation of GCLP (Good Clinical Laboratory Practice);
  • It is desired to have experience with BSLIII or MLIII.

 

Terms of employment


Manager Clinical Virology Services is a fulltime position, for 40 hours a week. We offer you a salary that corresponds with your education, experience and our company policy. We offer you a one-year contract with the possibility of extension and a permanent contract upon good performance. Furthermore, you will receive 8% holiday allowance and travel allowance.
